One of the most important things to a tweaker is a motherboards BIOS. We've
always been big fans of Iwill's bios's since they're always very tweakable and
full of options. Would the P4R533-N be any different?
RDRAM is not as tweakable as DDR RAM or SDRAM, the only thing you
can set is its frequency. Here we have the options of running the RDRAM at 3x
the FSB or 4x.
We really like the fact that we're allowed to run the CPU Vcore up
to 1.85V even on Northwood based Pentium 4's. This means for more extreme
overclocks we don't have to voltage mod the motherboard!
We're were very surprised to see that the P4R533-N did not allow
for 1 MHz increments for FSB adjustments and to top things off, the highest FSB
allowed in the motherboard was only 156 MHz. Another feature that we loved about
Intel based motherboards was not present in the P4R533-N and that's the ability
to lock the AGP/PCI speeds. These are pretty big issues that Iwill should
address since enthusiasts and overclockers like those options.
