Advanced Benchmarks: UT2003, Conclusions

Unreal Tournament 2003

Source: Epic

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and game play are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

Looks like we'll have to start testing AA at higher resolutions! Even with AA/AF enabled performance of the Asus AX800XT/TVD is outstanding!

This Asus videocard just flies!

When The Asus AX800XT/TVD videocard is a prime example of Asus engineering; it's more than a vanilla Radeon X800XT PE videocard, it's a multimedia users's dream come true!

HDTV's and HTPC's are both gaining huge popularity, so it only makes sense for this card to take advantage of the features built into the ATI GPU, and include component output for the best possible image quality.

The Asus GameFace software is definitely unique and adds another dimension of enjoyment for gamers. I mean who wouldn't like to see how your opponent reacts when you deliver the final blow in an online game? Of course to make this possible, the X800XT includes both the GameFace software, and a pretty decent webcam.

To top things off, the software bundle is pretty cool even though CS Condition Zero and Deus Ex: Invisible War are not the latest games. On the performance side, the benchmarks speak volumes about how the Asus AX800XT/TVD will handle the latest games. When I think about a couple rounds of Doom3 with one of these babies in my system, I start to drool.... it really is that good! Overclocking was more of a mixed bag, and the card we tested wasn't the best in that category.

Considering the card is based on the ATI Radeon X800XT PE VPU, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that the Asus AX800XT/TVD video retails for top dollar ($726 CDN ($583 US). If you want the best, you'd better be prepared to pay for it!
