Soltek 77KV KX133 Motherboard Review

Optical High anticipation was the tone prior to the release of AMD's Pentium X killer, the Athlon processor. An exciting time for AMD fans in particular who finally saw their dreams come to fruition as AMD finally surpassed long time rival Intel with regard to high performance microprocessors. But like many other products on the market, regardless of how well it performs, lack of industry support means certain death. In the case of AMD's Athlon processor, industry support by way of motherboards was below par. Though far from "certain death", this situation certainly caused a bit of worry for the people at AMD. Things were to look up since then...

In came VIA, probably the biggest third party factor which contributed to the support of AMD's brainchild. After months of tension in the air, AMD and enthusiasts alike heaved a sigh of relief at the life supporting chipset, the VIA KX133. Now without any worry regarding lack of Athlon support, AMD has the backing of strong hands such as Asus, ABit, FIC and others.

Also on this list is Soltek. Soltek has made the jump into the Athlon market with the SL-77KV that we are reviewing here. We had the honour of reviewing their
SL-67KV motherboard earlier this year and found it to be an excellent option for Intel Celeron/Pentium III users. Does Soltek keep up on the quality which is found in their renowned SL-67KV? We shall soon see...
