Looking at the Epox 8k3A+

This board is probably one of the most well equipped KT333-based motherboards on the market, lacking really only support for USB2.0. The Epox 8K3A+ has onboard 5.1 audio using VIA's AC-97 codec which is good enough for everyday use like watching DVD's or listening to music for starters. Gamers out there will want to get a hardware based sound card since the AC'97 saps quite a bit of CPU power.

There is also onboard Ultra/133 IDE RAID using HighPoint's HPT 372 chipset which can do RAID modes 0, 1 and 0+1. Or if you like, the extra IDE connectors can simply function as plain IDE controllers as well. Like the 8KHA+ there are three MOSFETS on the backside of the motherboard PCB, very smart since this saves quite a bit of space top side.

Red IDE RAID Ports and the ever useful Port 80

A very useful tool that Epox has been bundling with their boards for a while now is the Port 80 diagnostic LED's. Just looking at the Port 80 you know exactly what the computer is doing, whether you've overclocked too high or have bad memory the Port 80 will tell you. One thing we've noticed after using Epox motherboards for the last little while is that we've become quite attached to the Port 80 LED's. Testing motherboards without it just seem more tedious now. Perhaps I'm just becoming lazy... =)
