MSI G4Ti4200-VD64 Video Card Review
MSI G4Ti4200-VD64 Video Card Review - PCSTATS
With those fiscal considerations in mind it's amazing that MSI can bundle so much hardware and software with the Ti4200.

Overclocking and other fun stuff

By default, a GeForce4 Ti4200 is supposed to run at 250 MHz core and 500 MHz memory (for the 64MB version), however our G4Ti4200-VD64 was clocked at 250/513 MHz by default! There seems to be a trend here, our retail G4Ti4600-VTD had its memory clocked 10 MHz higher then default as well.

A quick little mod makes the Ti4200 glow.... blue. Kind of cool eh?

Anyway, since the G4Ti4200-VD64 uses 3.6ns DRAM I figured it should do at least 555 MHz (1000/3.6x2= 555) and we were hoping for a good memory overclock on the side as well.

We weren't disappointed as the memory topped out at 608 MHz. That's a pretty good overclock, it puts the memory speed past that of the GeForce4 Ti4400 cards!

The core of our G4Ti4200-VD64 was based on the A3 stepping of the GeForce4 Ti core so we also expected big things from it. Immediately we pushed up the core speed to 300 MHz (Ti4600 default) and there wasn't a single problem. We were finally able to hit a high of 321 MHz core frequency.

Running with both core and memory overclocked (321 MHz/608 MHz) produced some numbers even higher then those of a stock Ti4600! That's mighty impressive for a card which is about $250 CDN cheaper then a Ti4600!
