Benchmarks: Bapco Sysmark 2002, Winstone 2002

SysMark2002 is more of an extension of SysMark2001 rather then a whole new benchmark. The applications used during testing have been updated and most importantly for AMD users, the new SysMark2002 uses the Windows Media Encoder 7.1 which supports the AthlonXP's SSE instructions.

BapCo SysMark 2002 Benchmark Results
Internet Content Sysmarks Ranking
1. XP 2700+ (2.16 GHz) 269
2. P4 2.4 GHz 321
3. P4 2.8 GHz 358
4. P4 2.66 GHz 345
5. P4 3.26 GHz 393

Office Productivity

1. XP 2700+ (2.16 GHz) 169
2. P4 2.4 GHz 163
3. P4 2.8 GHz 185
4. P4 2.66 GHz 173
5. P4 3.26 GHz 206

In terms of value, it's quite obvious that the P4 2.66 is very good especially compared to the P4 2.8 GHz processor!

Content Creation Winstone 2002 is a system-level, application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when running top, Windows-based, 32-bit, content creation applications on Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, or Windows XP.

Business Winstone 2002 is a system-level, application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when running today's top-selling Windows-based 32-bit applications on Windows 98, Windows 2000 (SP6 or later), Windows Me, or Windows XP. Business Winstone doesn't mimic what these packages do; it runs real applications through a series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC takes to complete those activities to produce its performance scores.

Winstone 2002 Benchmark Results
Content Content Score Ranking
1. XP 2700+ (2.16 GHz) 36.5
2. P4 2.4 GHz 34.3
3. P4 2.8 GHz 37.2
4. P4 2.66 GHz 36.4
5. P4 3.26 GHz 38.9

Business Winstone

1. XP 2700+ (2.16 GHz) 24.7
2. P4 2.4 GHz 26.2
3. P4 2.8 GHz 28.4
4. P4 2.66 GHz 27.1
5. P4 3.26 GHz 29.4

Again you can see, the P4 2.66 at stock performs very close to the much more expensive P4 2.8 GHz processor. When overclocked, it beats everything handily.
