By combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, 3DMark2001 SE continues to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using real-time physics.

Overall the PowerColor X700 PRO does very well in 3DMark2001SE tests. It beats the 9800 Pro and XT cards handily, and scores just under the GeForce 6800GT! Overclocking gives a small but measurable boost.

3DMark05 is the latest version of the highly favoured 3DMark graphics benchmarking series. It is the first benchmark to require DirectX®9.0 compliant hardware with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 or higher!

It's interesting to see here that the PowerColor X700 PRO performs slower than the 256MB model Gigabyte GV-RX70P256V. Apparently memory helps out in 3DMark05 more than we thought. Overall though, the card scores pretty well for its class. Overclocking shows tangible benefits again.
