Appearence and Physical Specifications

At the bottom of the COOLMAX GREEN POWER is a single 135mm diameter intake fan. There is a gold plated wire grill in front, which does its job with a minimal amount of airflow restriction. The power supply has a glossy brushed steel finish which is refreshingly resistant to fingerprints. On one side we can clearly see the COOLMAX name and logo. There's also a sticker indicating that the cooling fans will operate even if the system is turned off to keep component temperatures below 50 degrees Celsius. Visually, the COOLMAX GREEN POWER CUQ-1200B is a very smart looking power supply.

On the front of the GREEN POWER CUQ-1200B power supply we don't see too much. There is the connector for the main power cable, a hard power switch and the 80mm fan. There is no 115/230V switch because the COOLMAX power supply supports Active PFC.

The COOLMAX GREEN POWER CUQ-1200B is a modular power supply, but only as far as the peripheral power connectors are concerned. The main 24 pin ATX power cable, two six pin PCI Express power connector cables, an ESP12V cable, an eight pin ATX12V power cable are hard wired.

The modular cables offer three molex plugs and three Serial ATA power sockets.

There is one fan RPM monitor cable that is wired into the 135mm fan. The COOLMAX GREEN POWER CUQ-1200B has four red connector ports; consisting of two eight pin PCI Express x16 power connectors (PCI-E 2.0) and two six pin PCI Express x16 power connectors. The four black ports are for the molex and Serial ATA modular power connectors.

Power connectors consist of nine Serial ATA power connectors, nine 4-pin molex power connectors, four 6-pin PCI Express videocard power connectors, two 8-pin PCI Express videocard power connectors, an ESP12V power connector, an 8-pin ATX12V connector and two floppy drive connectors. That's enough to connect whatever you want to the system and we're particularly impressed by the two eight pin PCI Express 2.0 power connectors - that is still pretty rare these days.

All the power supply cables with the COOLMAX GREEN POWER CUQ-1200B are wrapped in nylon wire loom to the first connector and covered with heat shrink tubing.
