Memory Benchmarks: Sandra XII, WinRAR, PCMark Vantage

SiSoft Sandra XII Source:Sandra

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of a complete system as well as the individual components. The results are also purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance.

At stock speeds the OCZ ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth memory performs very well and the latency results are pretty darn good if you ask me! Overclocking improves things for sure, let's check out what other benchmarks have to say.

WinRAR Internal Benchmark Source: RARLabs

This command generates random data, which contain specially introduced redundancy increasing load to processor and memory. Then data are passed through RAR compression and decompression algorithms and output of decompression algorithm is compared with source data. If any difference found, WinRAR reports "Errors found - Yes" in the command window. Also WinRAR displays a size of processed data and compression speed, current and resulting, in kilobytes per second. You may use the resulting speed value to compare RAR performance in different conditions.

We can see how latency and bandwidth play a role in the comrpession tests.

PCMark Vantage Source: FutureMark

PCMark® Vantage is the first objective hardware performance benchmark for PCs running 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows Vista. PCMark Vantage is perfectly suited for benchmarking any type of Windows Vista PC from multi media home entertainment systems and laptops to dedicated workstations and hi-end gaming rigs. Regardless of whether the benchmarker is an artist or an IT Professional, PCMark Vantage shows the user where their system soars or falls flat, and how to get the most performance possible out of their hardware. PCMark Vantage is easy enough for even the most casual enthusiast to use yet supports in-depth, professional industry grade testing.

The overall score in PCMark Vantage does not change much between the various memory used but moving to the memory portion of the test shows some differences. It looks like PCMark Vantage likes memory bandwidth more than low latencies.
