Apacer 256MB PC-100 SDRAM Review

Apacer 256MB PC-100 SDRAM Review - PCSTATS
Abstract: For the performance user always having a top end system is important. I've always been very proud of the parts I used and in away it's no longer just a computer, it's my creation.

Sandra Benchmarks

12 x 100 MHz CL3
12 x 100 MHz CL2

Does CAS Latency make that much of a difference at a 100 MHz bus speed? Apparently so. The only thing I can guess is that this memory wasn't really made to run at this speed. Remember, it's got the same DRAM as the Mushkin Rev3 sticks!

9 x 133 MHz CL3
9 x 133 MHz CL2

No wonder the KT133A based boards are hampering the wide spread acceptance of DDR based ones. Why would the average consumer spend a few hundred dollars more to get a DDR based system if old SDR technology can do the job almost as well?

8 x 150 MHz CL3
8 x 150 MHz CL2

Well as you see, at 150 MHz, I have about the same usable memory bandwidth as DDR. Of course, all these numbers have to be taken with a grain of salt. These are synthetic and may not represent real life performance. Let's go to everyone's favorite Direct3D benchmark, Madonion's 3DMark 2001.
