VIA Launches DDR333 Memory Validation Program in conjunction with Advanced Validation Labs, Inc.

VIA takes the lead in enabling a smooth transition to high speed DDR333 memory by launching an extensive JEDEC standard validation program for DDR333 devices, modules and systems.

Taipei, Taiwan, 23 January 2002 - VIA Technologies, Inc., a leading innovator and developer of core logic chipsets, microprocessors, and multimedia, networking and communications chips, today announced the industry's first independent JEDEC standard validation program for DDR333 memory products in conjunction with Advanced Validation Labs, Inc. (AVL).

The VIA-certified system validation testing involves the testing of memory modules using VIA's reference platform and bespoke software. The validation test process, co-developed by AVL and VIA, includes thermal testing to further stress memory modules under test.

"VIA has successfully used JEDEC standard validation programs to secure the transition of PC133 SDRAM and DDR266 SDRAM memory technologies into the mainstream market" said Richard Brown, Director of Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. "Our collaboration with AVL allows us to speed time to market and sustain the confidence of our customers through a technology transition by ensuring the reliability and compatibility of DDR333 devices and modules with VIA platforms."

"AVL is very pleased to play an integral role in VIA's industry leading DDR333 validation program," stated Larry Ho, Director of Technical Labs, Advanced Validation Labs. "It is critical that AVL continues to provide technology designers and builders with leading edge services. AVL's extensive engineering experience and quick-turn validation services, provides its customers with confidence in compatibility and interoperability."
