Conclusions

The Creative Vision Multimedia Kit is certainly user friendly. Documentation is sufficient and installation couldn't be simpler than this. Though the software bundle only included an Encylopedia of Science CD-ROM as an extra, the low cost of the package probably makes up for it.

The 52x CD-ROM drive operates as it should but certainly makes alot of noise. What I find good about the noise is that it has been reduced a bit over the Creative 48x CD-ROM drive. I am using this 48x and let me tell you that it packs a heck of alot of vibration and high-pitched noises similar to a Boeing 747. Everytime I pop a CD into that drive, I always anticipate that someone will announce over a loudspeaker that my flight is getting ready to take off and to fasten my seatbelt until the "No Seatbelt" light is turned off. The 52x still makes noise, but not as much as the 48x.

The soundcard and speakers included with the kit provide most users with enough features and quality to last them for a couple of years. If you are looking for the best in computer audio, this kit is certainly not the one for you. You would be better off looking for seperate components from different manufacturers because no multimedia kit on the market is targeted for the high-end enthusiasts.

And at a price of under Rs. 6000 (about US $130) this really isn't that bad of a deal. In short, this kit provides the common user with a simple and cost-effective means of making their PC multimedia enabled.

I feel that the only thing missing from this kit is a microphone. Other than that, it does a good job of delivering the goods to its targeted audience.
