LG GCE-8320B CD-RW Burner Review - PCSTATS
With a top listed CD-R speed of 32X, a CD-RW write speed of 10X, and a CD-ROM reading speed of 40X, this LG drive should be good for most normal duty.

Burn tests and Conclusions

Nero CD Speed 99 - Burn Test - Benchmarks Source: Ahead Software

Nero's CD Speed burn tests are done twice, once with a CDR rated to 1x-24x burn speed, and a CD-RW rated to 4x-10x. Each disk was test with files of about 640MB in size. This test is done by simply placing blank recording media into the burner and running CD Speed 99; the software will detect if it is CD-R or CD-R/W media and run the appropriate tests.

The drive is rated at 32X for CD-R's but in our tests using Nero CD-Speed it only reached at most 20X - a bit low. When working on CD-RW media, the drive was able to hit the 10X mark dead on, and did so consistently with CLV.

Obviously, as a burner the LG GCE-83208B is not the fastest drive we've tested, but for an OEM burner at its' price point the drive is still a pretty good deal.

You could easily spend a few more dollars and get a burner which is faster, but if you just need something which will work, without buffer underrun errors you may want to shop with your wallet. Looking at the results, what you get is not going to break any speak records, but if you aren't in a hurry, then so what? The choice is yours, and if you want faster go for it. If not, then an OEM drive like this LG burner might be just what you "can live with."
