Unreal Tournament 2003 Demo

Source: Epic

Unreal Tournament 2003 is the sequel to 1999's multiple 'Game of the Year' award winner. It uses the very latest Unreal Engine technology - where graphics, sound and gameplay are taken beyond the bleeding edge. Unreal Tournament 2003 employs the use of Vertex as well as Pixel Shaders and it's recommended that you use a DirectX 8 videocard to get the most out of the game.

As we've seen in almost every other benchmark, overclocking this memory boosts performance by about 10%.

Conclusions on the XMS3500 Memory:

As the benchmarks show, the Corsair XMS3500 CAS2 DDR memory module is very quick , but with a $200 CDN ($120 US) price tag, it's very expensive as well. While 217 MHz FSB with the most aggressive memory timings is nothing to scoff at, we are left wishing we had been able to push the memory a little higher than 217MHz.

After all, we were able to get Corsair's own XMS3200 CAS2 to 215 MHz - it would have been nice if the XMS3500 module we tested out would have gone past 220 MHz with aggressive memory timings.

Performance wise, as you can see by the benchmarks, the Corsair XMS3500 module is damn fast and the benefits of a higher bus speed should be pretty evident. It looks like we get a 10% performance boost across the board when overclocking.

A few readers have written in to say that the Winbond BH-5 DRAM requires a bit of a "burn in" time in order to get the most out of it, whether that's true or not I don't know. We'll be using this memory module for a few upcoming reviews so we'll have to see if time changes anything.

If you want the absolutely fastest memory there is out there, you're going to pay a hefty premium, but, the Corsair XMS3500 CAS2 is very quick and that is what matters most isn't it?
