The gear pouch does just what its name describes - it hauls wires, adaptors, cables, and anything else you need to pack away and carry with you. Essentially a large pocket with a set of zippers and loop
for carabinier (or thumb grab if you're pulling it out of a larger pocket), the
gear pouch is designed to pack away the unglamorous components which allow us to
use all that fancy high-tech equipment.
There are three different
sizes to choose from, and each case has one large compartment flanked by a
smaller side pocket.
The gear pouch is made from Ballistic Nylon and trimmed with Indium, an industrial wall covering. The inside of the case is a honeycomb pattern yellow nylon fabric which makes for a bright backdrop when looking through the pocket for smaller items which would otherwise be difficult to see against a black background. A set of rubberized locking zippers use spring action to keep closed, and keep what's inside, inside.
The zipper is looped around at one end of the bag, which looks rather nifty, but I'd be concerned about the long-term wear and tear it may suffer. Should the zipper teeth ever fail at this point (say from being sat on too many times), the zipper would slide right off. The opposite end on the other hand is tucked neatly under the Indium trim so there are no stress points.
From small to large, the gear pouch ranges in price from $18-$25 and while not as unique as other Waterfield bags, does come in pretty handy.
