The last year and a half has been very difficult for
nVIDIA, the hardware community has been very vocal about nVIDIA's questionable
driver practices, they've lost a lot of market share to ATi, and previously
loyal top tier manufacturers have started adopting ATi based videocards.
NVIDIA may be back on the road to redemption though,
their high end GeForceFX 5950 gives the Radeon 9800XT a good run for its money
in the high end realm. More importantly as
we have seen, nVidia's new mainstream GeForceFX 5700 Ultra GPU is able to match
the Radeon 9600XT! From the benchmarks we've shown, it's clear that the
GeForceFX 5700 Ultra is the real deal and was able to best the Radeon 9600XT in
many of the tests.
Enthusiasts should also take note that we were able to
overclock the Albatron GeForce FX5700 Ultra to 619 MHz core and 1.02 GHz memory, and run it
stable enough to put through the full benchmark suite.
Everywhere we've looked for the last few months, people
have been recommending ATi based videocards because they were simply far better.
Now though, the mainstream market does have a real alternative to ATi's 9600
class Radeon... and I'm very sure that anyone who decides to buy a GeForceFX
5700 Ultra will be very happy with its performance.
It's been a long time since we've had an overwhelming
reason to recommended an nVIDIA based videocard but the Albatron FX5700 Ultra
certainly deserves its accolades!
