By
combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, it continues to provide
good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in cooperation
with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable
set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using
real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance abilities.
Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3
and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and
Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics.
Higher
numbers denote better performance.
The high
end GeForceFX videocards have never really done well in 3DMark2001. The MSI
FX5950 Ultra-VTD256 scores only around 300 points more than the GeForceFX 5900
Ultra.
CodeCretures requires a fully compatible DirectX 8
videocard with preferably 128 MB of RAM to store textures. Codecreatures
utilizes vertex as well as pixel shaders to run their tests.
CodeCreatures seems to like the nVIDIA cards quite a bit.
At stock speeds the MSI FX5950 Ultra-VTD256 is the fastest card, overclocking
just makes things better.
As the
resolution gets cranked up the MSI FX5950 Ultra-VTD256 is still the
fastest.
