AquaMark
is another DirectX 8 benchmark. Using vertex shaders, any card that is DirectX8
compatible will not just have a huge speed boost, the image will also look
better. Default test has 24 MB worth of textures.
In
AquaMark, we see that the PowerColor Radeon 9600XT performs a tad faster than
the Asus Radeon 9600XT again. It seems that slight advantage in memory speed is
giving it the edge.
The
PowerColor Radeon 9600XT should be able to give you playable framerates even at
1600x1200 resolutions.
AquaMark3 is a powerful tool to determine reliable
information about the gaming performance of a computer system. Because the
benchmark extensively utilizes DirectX9, DirectX8 and DirectX7 functionality, it
represents the requirements of typical gaming applications in 2003 and
2004.
At stock
speeds, the PowerColor Radeon 9600XT performs pretty well just a bit faster than
the Asus Radeon 9600XT, and Gigabyte GeForceFX 5700 Ultra.
