We'll get to the DOT Ranger overclocking in a
second, first for the more experienced overclockers you can change the
motherboard clock speed from 200-300 MHz in 1 MHz intervals. The AGP speed can
be set independent of the motherboard from 66-100 MHz, again in 1 MHz steps.
HyperTransport speeds can be adjusted
from 1x (200 MHz) to 5x (1 GHz), but 4x (800 MHz) is default. Maximum
memory voltage is 2.85V, AGP voltage 1.85V and CPU voltage 1.81V. The MSI K8N
supports CPU multiplier adjustments, but only integer numbered multipliers! By
that I mean you cannot select .5 multipliers like 9.5, 8.5, 7.5, etc.
MSI uses military ranks to designate the various DOT
(Dynamic Overclocking Technology) settings but I think MSI might have gotten
some of these ranks backwards , last time I checked General is a higher rank
than Commander.
As you can see Private will only overclock your system 1% when
under load while Captain will increase your system speed by 5% and Commander to
11%. By default, DOT is enabled and is set to Captain, obviously for testing DOT
was disabled.
