PCMark
can be used on desktop PC's, Laptops and even Workstations and tests everyday
computing from home to office usage. PCMark specifically stresses the CPU,
memory subsystem, graphics subsystem, hard drives, WindowsXP GUI (if WinXP is
used), video performance and even laptop batteries.
On the
Athlon64 system, according to PCMark, all the systems are about the same at
stock speeds. Tighter timings seems to give a 100-200 point boost to score. On
the Intel side the DIMM's that run with tighter timings score slightly higher.
When overclocked, nothing can match the Buffalo Firestix FSX5000V RAM.
PCMark04
is the latest version of the popular PCMark series. PCMark04 is an
application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring overall PC
performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of including very
large applications or using specifically created code. This allows PCMark04 to
be a smaller installation as well as to report very accurate results.
In
PCMark04, the situation is much closer... but again, the Buffalo Firestix
FSX5000V RAM is slightly slower than the memory modules which run with tight
timings. When overclocked, the Firestix FSX5000V RAM has a nice lead on the
Intel system.
