PCMark04 is the latest version of the popular PCMark series. PCMark04 is an application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of including very large applications or using specifically created code. This allows PCMark04 to be a smaller installation as well as to report very accurate results.

Things vary a bit for the Albatron PX915P-AGPe in PCMark04, but the results are within the margin of error.

By combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, 3Dmark2001 continues to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001 SE has been created in cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion real-time physics. Higher 3DMark scores denote better performance.

It's definitely interesting to see the PCI Express GeForcePCX 5900 beat the AGP GeForce 6800GT in 3DMark. Running an AGP videocard in the AGP extension slot (PCI mode) severely bottlenecks the system, enough to reduce the newer card's speed advantage to a disadvantage.

AquaMark3 is a powerful tool to determine reliable information about the gaming performance of a computer system. Because the benchmark extensively utilizes DirectX9, DirectX8 and DirectX7 functionality, it represents the requirements of typical gaming applications in 2003 and 2004.

Odd. The results show the Albatron PX915P-AGPe performs better than the 925X based Gigabyte GA-8ANXP-D in Aquamark3. We also see that the Albatron motherboard and GeForce 6800GT performed the best in this benchmark. Aquamark3 is much harder on the video card than it is on the rest of the system, and the additional processing power of the AGP 6800GT card triumphed over the PCI Express 5900, even with the reduced bandwidth of the AGP/PCI slot.
