By
combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, 3DMark2001 SE continues
to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in
cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide
a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance
by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance
abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point
Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene
Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using real-time
physics.

New generations of GeForce videocards do not fair very well in 3DMark and
here we see that quite clearly. Even SLI doesn't boost the overall score very
much.
3DMark05
is the latest version of the highly favoured 3DMark graphics benchmarking
series. It is the first benchmark to require DirectX9.0 compliant hardware with
support for Pixel Shader 2.0 or higher!

That's more like it. With SLI
support in the drivers for 3DMark05 we see that the SLI videocards do quite a
bit better than their single core counterparts. In fact we're in X800XT
territory and that's pretty good! With its faster memory, the GV-3D1 also shows
better numbers in single GPU mode than the other 6600GT cards.
