By
combining DirectX8 support with completely new graphics, 3DMark2001 SE continues
to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in
cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide
a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance
by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance
abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point
Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene
Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using real-time
physics.

In our first test, the RX800XL-VT2D256E comes in slightly
behind the other X800XL-based cards in the roundup, but by very little.
These cards are still above everything but the X800XT core in
3DMark2001SE. Overclocking made a minimal difference to the score.
3DMark05
is the latest version of the highly favoured 3DMark graphics benchmarking
series. It is the first benchmark to require DirectX9.0 compliant hardware with
support for Pixel Shader 2.0 or higher!
