to provide good overall system benchmarks. 3DMark2001SE has been created in
cooperation with the major 3D accelerator and processor manufacturers to provide
a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite demonstrates 3D gaming performance
by using real-world gaming technology to test a system's true performance
abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders and Point
Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full Scene
Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using real-time
physics.

3DMark2001 has not performed as well on nVIDIA
videocards in quite some time and we see that overclocking does not boost
performance much. Perhaps it's time to retire 3DMark2001 from the videocard
benchmark suite?

is the latest version of the highly favoured 3DMark graphics benchmarking
series. It is the first benchmark to require DirectX9.0 compliant hardware with
support for Pixel Shader 2.0 or higher!

3DMark05 is a very videocard intensive benchmark and
here it's clear which card is fastest. The Albatron GeForce 7800 GTX is able to
best the MSI X850 XT by a fair margin, and performs on par with the Gigabyte
7800 GTX. Overclocking boosts performance very nicely!
