By combining DirectX8 support with completely new
graphics, 3DMark 2001 SE continues to provide a good overall system benchmark.
3DMark2001 SE was created in co-operation with the major 3D accelerator and
processor manufacturers to provide a reliable set of diagnostic tools. The suite
demonstrates 3D gaming performance by using real-world gaming technology to test
a system's true abilities. Tests include: DirectX8 Vertex Shaders, Pixel Shaders
and Point Sprites, DOT3 and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping, support for Full
Scene Anti-aliasing and Texture Compression and two game tests using Ipion
real-time physics. Higher 3DMark scores denote better performance.

Considering 3DMark2001 is a single threaded application we still see a decent
boost due to more bandwidth at stock speeds. Overclocking raises the CPU speed
as well as memory and we get a nice score here.
3DMark05 is the latest version of the highly
favoured 3DMark graphics benchmarking series. It is the first benchmark to
require DirectX®9.0 compliant hardware with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 or
higher.

3DMark05 numbers seem flat overall, but remember this is mainly a videocard
benchmark and single threaded at that.
