The Seasonic S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT 650W power supply supports over voltage, over power and short circuit protection
in order to protect you, your power supply and your system from damage.
The S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT is designed to operate in temperatures between 0-50
degrees Celsius and in relative humidity between 20-80%.
Removing the top cover of the power supply exposes the
innards of the Seasonic S12 Energy Plus SS-650HT 650W, please keep in mind
though by doing so voids all warranties. The 10 Amp fuse is removable and can be replaced if necessary, although getting to it will require
you to remove the rear exhaust fan as well.... so it is technically not
user serviceable. Once the top has been taken off the Seasonic S12 Energy Plus
SS-650HT 650W it's easy to see why the power supply is so heavy.
A 120x120x25mm ADDA DC Brushless fan (model
AD1212HB-A71GL) is used to cool the electronic circuitry and heatsinks inside the power supply. The fan spins
at a maximum speed of 2050RPM while pushing 83.21CFM of air, and for
this creates about 38dBA noise. The ADDA fan is voltage controlled by the power supply and
only spins up to maximum speed when the SS-650HT gets hot.
The fan is detachable which great for users who are
handy, it connects to the power supply PCB via a two pin fan
connector. Seasonic has an excellent reputation for building quiet power supplies and the Seasonic
S12 Energy Plus is no different. During testing the power supply internals did not
get very hot even while under a heavy system load, and the 120mm ADDA
fan remained appropriately quiet.
Now let's test this 650W power
supply under load!
