Biostar P4M890-M7 Motherboard Highlights
There are two
available 1.5GB/s SATA I ports on the Biostar
P4M890-M7 motherboard, two USB headers, and two IDE133 channels. RAID support
comes via the VIA VT8237R+ chipset and what VIA term 'V-RAID'. It
includes support for RAID 1/0/0+1/JBOD. There are two Ultra133 IDE headers as
well.
|
The Biostar
P4M890-M7 motherboard incorporates
an integrated VIA UniChrome Pro videocard, and PCI Express x16 slot
for stand alone videocards. Further expansion is possible through
a PCI Express x1 slot and two 32-bit PCI
slots.
|
As much as 4GB DDR2-400/533 memory can be installed
in the Biostar P4M890-M7, but only in single channel. The board is compatible with
legacy 20 pin ATX power supplies, but it's recommended to use at
least a 400W PSU which has a 24-pin power connector. The VIA
P4M890 Northbridge is passively cooled with a small aluminum heatsink. Two channels (four devices)
of Ultra 133 IDE are supported.
|
The Biostar P4M890-M7 accomodates all current socket 775 Intel processors that operate on a
500MHz, 800MHz or 1066MHz front side bus. Intel Core 2
Duo processors are supported. Processor heatsink fans are supported by a 4-pin PWM fan
header.
|
There's lots of space between the PCI Express x16 slot and PCI
slots, but because this is a compact motherboard it is not surprising that the
memory locks won't fully open with a videocard installed. Along either side of the
second PCI slot are two USB
headers.
