So you're
in the market for a new videocard? MSI has something for you to check out. It's
the NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC, and its Geforce 7900GS engine with 512MB of GDDR3
offers up an interesting mix of performance and value.
Based on the GeForce 7900GS core, the
NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC retails for about $220 CDN ($190 USD, £96 GBP).
The MSI NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC comes overclocked by
default with its core running at 550 MHz and memory at 1400 MHz (450 MHz and
1320 MHz on stock respectively). MSI only include the basics with the
NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC; two DVI to analog converters, a S-Video/Component output
cable and a light software suite. It would have been nice if MSI could have
included a game or two. Alas that is not the case.
The MSI NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC was pretty quick in the
benchmarks, certainly good for its class. At resolutions of 1024x768 the
videocard kept up well with other GeForce 7900GTX solutions. However
at high resolutions it doesn't quite have enough steam.
When it comes to overclocking the MSI NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC was
pretty quick too. The card ships pre-overclocked and is already faster than the
average GeForce 7900GS. In our tests, this MSI videocard was further
overclocked to 675 MHz core and 1612 MHz memory! Overclocking the
card did positively affect the benchmarks ,so if you need a bit more power go
for it!
On the whole, MSI has put together a good comprehensive
graphics solution here. The MSI NX7900GS-T2D512E-OC might be just what your
upgrade plans are calling for, check it out!
