Overclocking is alive and well! PCSTATS has all the
details you need to see at a glance to know how the various videocards tested
perform relative to each other. The chart we've compiled below lists the highest
overclocked core and memory clock speeds we were able to achieve while
maintaining 100% stability. Results are grouped by GPU class, and ranked by
highest memory overclock to lowest.
As an entry level motherboard, the Gigabyte GV-NX85T256H
is not a bad overclocker relatively speaking. Considering its price, you
certainly get a lot more for your money these days than was possible with
previous generations of videocards.
Silent Videocard for those on
a Budget
If you're in the market for a new videocard, you're
certainly getting a lot more accessories and games for your money.
A fine compatible example is Gigabyte's GV-NX85T256H,
with a retail price of $106 CDN ($101 US, £50 GBP). The videocard supports
Windows Vista Aeroglass, an important consideration if gaming isn't your first
priority, rather the look and feel of Vista.
To top things off, Gigabyte's GV-NX85T256H includes a
copy of the game, Dawn of War Dark Crusade! When was the last time a
manufacturer bundled games with an entry level videocard?
Those of you looking to build a workstation or HTPC
should also take notice that the Gigabyte GV-NX85T256H passively cooled, thus
silent. With HDCP support, get yourself a DVI to HDMI converter and you can play
those Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies on your HDTV!
In terms of performance the Gigabyte GV-NX85T256H can
handle DirectX 9.0 games at resolutions of 1024x768 pretty well. DirectX 10
titles like Call of Juarez and Lost Planet are a bit too much for it though. If
you're a big time gamer you might be better served to save up a bit more to get
something that's one or two classes higher. If you're just a casual gamer though
the GV-NX85T256H should be sufficient. It's also perfectly suitable for running
a Windows Vista PC, with all of the eye candy that operating system allows for
menus, explorer windows and navigation.
Ultimately, the Gigabyte GV-NX85T256H is a decent
videocard for the price but it's important to keep in mind its intended purpose.
As long as you do that, the Gigabyte GV-NX85T256H will provide
satisfactory 2D and gaming performance.
