The Foxconn A690GM2MA-RS2H motherboard is based around AMD's 690G / SB600 chipsets, and although it has both DVI and analog video outputs, it regrettably lacks the HDMI jack that many other AMD690G motherboards boast.

Foxconn A690GM2MA-RS2H Highlights
On the rear I/O of
the Foxconn A690GM2MA-RS2H you'll find the two video outputs; a standard 15 pin analog and DVI monitor connector.
There are four USB 2.0 slots along with the Gigabit network port.
The onboard Radeon Xpress X1250 videocard is suitable for 2D type office applications,
and generally underpowered for all but the most basic 3D
game.

On the bottom
left hand corner of the Foxconn
A690GM2MA-RS2H motherboard, we find the expansion slots. Pickings are pretty slim
because this is a microATX board; just a PCI Express x1 slot, PCI Express
x16 (for videocards) and two 32 bit PCI slots. There are audio ports at
the bottom of the motherboard and a four pin PWM fan connector for the CPU
heatsink.
|
The right hand corner of the
motherboard is busiest. We see the three green
USB headers, four Serial ATA II channels, the front panel I/O connector and
the clear CMOS jumper at the edge of the motherboard. There's also
an onboard speaker which will sound if you run into trouble. The AMD SB600
southbridge is tucked away under a passively cooled aluminum
heatsink.

The Foxconn A690GM2MA-RS2H supports four DDR2
memory slots which can be installed with up to 4GB of DDR2-800/667/533
Memory. To the right of those slots you'll find the main 24 pin ATX power
connector and a IDE and floppy drive
connector.
|
There is a fair
amount of space around the AMD Socket AM2 CPU socket, which is good for
large quietly cooled processor heatsinks. The heatsink that cools the AMD 690G chipset
is compact, and does the job well.

Overclocking test results are coming next, how fast do
you think PCSTATS can push this microATX Foxconn AMD690G motherboard? Let's find
that out, right after the jump....
