PCSTATS Maximum Motherboard Overclocking Chart & Conclusions
Overclocking is alive and well! PCSTATS
has all the details you need to see at a glance to know which board is best. The
chart we've compiled below lists the highest overclocked Front Side Bus speeds
we were able to achieve while maintaining 100% stability.
For an integrated motherboard, the
Biostar TF7150U-M7 motherboard does pretty well for itself wouldn't you say? It
overclocks higher than the ECS PN2 SLI2+ which is an nVIDIA nFOrce 680i based
motherboard!
Welcome nVIDIA into the
integrated Intel world!
For a long time Intel users were looking at the
integrated options in AMD land and salivating at the thought of those chipsets
moving over. Well nVIDIA has finally introduced its GeForce
7-series chipset to the Intel market. Having seen what the
Geforce 7150 can do, it's clear this integrated graphics chipset
will give Intel's G series chipsets a good run for its money.
Biostar has put together a pretty decent nVIDIA GeForce
7150 based motherboard with its TF7150U-M7. Based around the nVIDIA chipset, the
little motherboard supports a whole array of video output options which will
surely please the hardware enthusiast. On the rear we find a DVI output, analog
and HDMI, exactly what you need if you plan on hooking up the computer to a high
definition television.
The Biostar TF7150U-M7 does have a few other integrated
goodies like onboard 7.1 channel high definition Azalia audio and a Gigabit
network card. If that's not enough for you there are ample expansion
opportunities thanks to the PCI Express x1, PCI Express x16 and two PCI slots on
the motherboard.
In terms of performance the Biostar TF7150U-M7
motherboard performed very well and kept up with Intel P35/X38 Express
motherboards in many respects. Memory bandwidth can be an issue if you're using
the onboard GeForce 7150, but overall for office tasks you wouldn't notice it.
While the onboard GeForce 7150 is DirectX 9.0C compatible, you're not going to
be doing much gaming on that thing. If it's games you want, spend some money and
get yourself a standalone PCI Express videocard. With a GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
installed onto the system, performance shot right up to near the level of the
competition.
PCSTATS was pleasantly surprised how well the Biostar
TF7150U-M7 motherboard could overclock. Even with no CPU clock multiplier
options, the motherboard was able to reach a very respectable 460 MHz!
With a retail price of $93 CDN ($95 USD, £45 GBP), Biostar has put together a
very well rounded and affordable package with its TF7150U-M7 motherboard. If
you're looking to build a low cost or HTPC/multimedia system, now you can with
get something with a nVIDIA GeForce chipset while using an Intel processor; the
best of both worlds.
