In for a Closer Look at the Samsung 943B
The Samsung Syncmaster 943B has a subtle all-black design that should fit in nicely in
corporate environments where bland colour schemes dominate. The simple chassis has a non-reflective matt
surface texture, soft curved edges, and only two places where a small "Samsung" logo are
embossed in grey. Care and cleaning of the unit is a breeze, particularly because there aren't any physical buttons to
trap dirt, potentially making it a suitable 19" monitor for
medical offices which need to apply strict cleaning regimes.
Looking
at the front of the Syncmaster 943B we see the screen is nicely framed by the
narrow bezel. The control buttons are located in the lower right corner, the dark
gray lettering makes them nearly illegible even in the bright light this photo was shot.
The power button is paired with a small blue LED which causes some confusion... we
found ourselves naturally gravitating toward the light where the touch sensitive button is
not located.
The control panel consists of - menu, magicbright,
brightness, source select, auto adjust and power keys. MagicBright has preset scenarios for internet, gaming, text,
sports, movie, custom or dynamic contrast.

Samsung Syncmaster 943B is pictured above. The panel measures 40mm thick at the edge, but increases
to about 60mm thickness towards the center.
The Syncmaster 943B
monitor doesn't use a power brick, instead the 120VAC power cord plugs directly
into the display. A small bracket can be attached the stand to help manage cables
if you wish. The power button on the front of the screen sets the display
into a soft-power off mode that continuously consumes about 1W in standby.
The display accepts analog VGA and digital DVI video inputs, and
comes with each cable.
The stand that ships with the Syncmaster 943B
is adjustable, and can be removed if you choose to mount the 19" monitor onto an armature. A 75x75mm
VESA mounting plate is required. PCSTATS will look at the range of customization
