When used as a stereo headset for listening to music, the YA-BH270 functions
well enough, but isn't a replacement for the simplicity and audio quality a good
pair of wired headphones will offer. In fact, we found the audio quality from a
pair of those disposable over-ear headphones that airlines hand out much better
sounding, largely because of a lack of bass and occasional clicks and pops from
interference to the wireless data stream.
 Volume controls. The
microphone is on a rubberized pad that is
flexible.

Call quality when connected to a cell phone is okay, you can clearly
hear the other persons voice speaking with minimal delay and distortion.
For the other speaker however, the Samsung stereo headset is a mixed bag, at
times sounding clear but like using hands free, and other
times sounding muddled like the front of each word is getting cut
off and mashed together so that sentences are not clearly
understandable.
 Ear padding is
comfortable, though the earphones are kind of
bulky.

The audio quality seems to be
on par for similar products available for the emerging music phone category. However,
this tech reporter can't help but look at these devices as a
seriously complicated way to go about a very simple thing. The integration
of stereo music capabilities into a Bluetooth headset is certainly a plus for
anyone who currently uses one, and of course audio kicks out when there is an incoming
call.
We were not impressed with the stereo
audio quality compared to a cheap pair of headphones from our last international flight on Air
Canada.

Stereo Headphones - no wires!

The complexity of setting up the Bluetooth connection
varies with each phone, from painful to easy. Without a Bluetooth enabled MP3
device in the PCSTATS labs, it's hard to offer commentary on that application
route, but in all likelyhood the audio stream will still pale to that of a wired
connection.
In essence, Samsung's Bluetooth Stereo
Headset (YA-BH270) is a nice looking device that brings stereo sound into the
world of Bluetooth headset aficionados. If you're already familiar with the
technology this may be just what the doctor ordered for that morning jog.
If you're looking at the Samsung Bluetooth Stereo Headset (YA-BH270) from the aspect of audio quality, I
don't think you'll be very satisfied by what they are capable of delivering in
comparison to the ease of use, sound quality and cost of a decent pair of wired
headphones.... particularly not for $75 USD.
