Overclocking Results: |

The Diamond HD 3650 PE 512 Radeon videocard ships with its GPU running at 725MHz, and
its 512MB of GDDR running at 405MHz. Overclocking a mainstream videocard like
this could yield some nice benefits in games, so you can bet PCSTATS will
do its best. Let's begin.
As usual, overclocking was done through the ATI
Catalyst Control Center and ATI Overdrive which unlocks GPU and memory clock
speed. PCSTATS started with the GPU first, pausing to test the results with a
quick 3D benchmark before continuing. We take note of any stability problems or
the appearance of artifacts, and then list the maximum stable and artifact-free
overclocked speed the video card can attain.
The speed of the Radeon HD 3650 GPU was increased from 725MHz in 5MHz increments and quickly
maxed out at 750MHz. The Diamond HD 3650 PE 512 started
to exhibit artifacts past this point. Overclocking the 512MB GDDR2 memory proved fairly
unexciting too, as PCSTATS was only able to raise it to a
maximum of 510MHz, or the system would fail in the benchmarking tests indicating instability. The
Diamond HD 3650 actually reached a memory speed of 525MHz, but the benchmarks would
crash back to the desktop.
Let's look at some benchmarks next to see where the
Diamond HD 3650 ultimately stands.
Prelude to Benchmarks
The details of how the Diamond HD 3650 PE 512 videocard test system was
configured for benchmarking; the specific hardware, software drivers, operating
system and benchmark versions are indicated below. All benchmarks for the
videocard were run in Windows Vista Ultimate, the reference video cards were
tested in both Windows XP and Vista for the DX10 benchmarks.
PCSTATS is in the process of making the transition to
a Windows Vista and Intel CPU test platform, so keep this in mind as you scan
the benchmark results. In the second column are the general specs for the
reference cards this Radeon HD 3650 videocard is to be compared against. Please take a
moment to look over PCSTATS test system configurations before moving on to the
individual benchmark results on the next page.

Benchmark results are grouped by GPU manufacturer first
(AMD/ATI or nVidia), then by GPU generation, and then by GPU class (high end,
mainstream, value). This approach provides a clearer view of how performance can
differ from generation to generation, and class to previous generation. The
product being tested is marked with the red colour bar. On with the benchmarks!
