Far Cry 2 shows much better AA performance for the
Geforce GTX 260s when compared to the Radeon HD 4890, which can't keep up at 8x
AA at 1920 X 1200 resolution. The factory overclocked Gigabyte GV-N260C896H-GA
takes the top spot, second only to the Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics card.
Crysis is a science fiction first-person shooter
developed by Crytek. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, DirectX 10 for graphics
rendering, and includes the new engine—the CryEngine 2—that is the successor to
Far Cry's CryEngine. CryEngine 2 is among the first engines to use the DirectX
10 framework of Windows Vista, but can also run using DirectX 9, both on Vista
and Windows XP.

The
Geforce GTX 260's excellent performance in Far Cry 2 is reversed in Crysis,
where the Radeon HD 4890 pulls out an easy win once the resolution and
anti-aliasing options are maxed out.
So where does that leave the Gigabyte GV-N26OC896H-GA
videocard? Is it a worthwhile purchase or should you be looking toward something
from the ATI camp?
