Looking at the bottom side of the Seasonic M12D 750W power supply you'll note the 120mm Sanyo Denki intake fan behind a recessed wire grill fan guard. It is the only fan in the PSU. The fan moves air through the power supply, and out the rear. A warranty sticker covers one of the screw holes, if you open up the power supply Seasonic will know, and the warranty will be voided.

The matte black finish feels very solid, and isn't as prone to scratches and fingerprints as a shiny glossy finish can be.

Taking a look at the fan from the inside reveals it's a Sanyo-Denki SAN ACE 9S1212H403 120x120x38mm fan, which operates at 12V. Sanyo makes high-quality fans that generally have long life spans, so this is a good sign.

The back of the Seasonic M12D 750W power supply is pretty plain. There is the connector for the mains power cord and the hard power switch. Missing is the 115/230V switch because the Seasonic M12D 750W power supply supports Active PFC. A honeycomb vent allows air to flow through much of the rear panel with little resistance.

Intel conducted some studies on this type of vent a few years back that found that of all the sheet metal patterns in use, the honeycomb vent offered the best mix of EMI shielding, noise reduction and ease of airflow. Thin vertical vents, for example, can be so restrictive to airflow and generate noise as air passes through.

The front of the Seasonic M12D-750 houses the built-in cables that are always attached to the Seasonic power supply, and four peripheral IDE/SATA modular cable connections and two PCI Express modular cable connections. These can be populated as required.

There are four slots available for SATA and four-pin Molex cables (each cable can have multiple connectors), and two for PCI Express power connectors. All cables from the Seasonic M12D 750W are wrapped in black wire loom sleeves, the ends are zip tied and covered with heat shrink tubing. The main ATX power connector is ~55cm long as are the other cables to the first connector on the daisy chain.

The Seasonic power supply's non modular cabling consists of three Serial ATA power connectors (split over two lines), two convertible eight pin (6+2) 12V PCI Express videocard connectors, a four-pin ATX 12V connector, an eight-pin ESP 12V connector and the main 24(20+4) pin ATX power line.

Plugging the modular cables into the Seasonic M12D-750 is pretty easy, although it does require a fair amount of pressure to make sure the cables are attached securely. The connectors themselves are secured by a plastic retention tab that notches inside the modular cavity. In certain system cases attaching and detaching cables can become an issue since there won't be much room to grip them with your hands.

Modular cables include three SATA power cables (eight power connectors total), three molex power cables (eight power connectors total), and a pair of PCI Express power cables that can be used in six pin or eight pin configurations, depending on your videocard.
