On the bottom of the R480-i5-430
you'll have access to all of the user-servicable hardware aspects of
the notebook: memory, hard drive and processor.
There are two accessible memory slots, both of which ship installed with a 2GB DDR3-1066 SO-DIMM
module from the memory company Samsung, for a total 4GB PC3-8500. The 500GB 2.5"
SATA hard drive sits in a simple metal casing and could be easily removed and
replaced if necessary. The mini-PCI slot holds a 802.11bgn wireless network
card.
The CPU is also exposed, and could potentially be user
serviceable - just make sure to check your warranty carefully
first!

MobileMark 2007 is BAPCo's latest revision of their laptop battery testing
suite. It tests battery life under a variety of situations including DVD
playback and wireless Internet usage. Battery life is recorded in minutes for
each test. The DVD BatteryMark was conducted with the screen at full
brightness. The wireless BatteryMark test was conducted with the screen at
default brightness

The Samsung R480 notebook showed acceptable battery life. The
laptop managed just under two hours of DVD playback (110minutes to be
exact) with the screen at full brightness, and a decent 3 hours and 41 minutes of working
time with the screen at default brightness for the Productivity 2007 battery life test. The
Performance Qualification on that test was 121.
