Biostar's TH67XE motherboard supports a single PCI Express 2.0 x16 videocard
(at x16 mode) for users wishing to move from integrated graphics to a
discreet videocard. .
Two SATA 6Gb/s and three SATA II
ports.

In this corner of the Biostar TH67XE motherboard we find physical power and
reset buttons that make tweaking a system out of the box so much easier.
The four DDR3 memory slots will accommodate up to 16GB (64-bit OS) of
DDR3-1066/1333 memory.
Clearance is pretty good around the LGA1155 CPU socket. A passive
aluminum heatsink helps cool the motherboard MOSFETs on the Biostar
TH67XE board
While Intel has created several different heatsink sizes in recent years
(LGA775, 1156 and 1366), the socket 1155 is reportedly compatible with existing
socket 1156 heatsinks. The
32nm Sandy Bridge processor is expected to have a modest TDP of between 65W and
95W.
E-SATA, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 (in blue) and a single network jacks allow for
many peripherals to be connected. While USB 2.0's 480Mb/s maximum bandwidth was
enough for many years, USB 3.0 (above in blue) expands the bandwidth to a
whopping 4.8Gb/s (4800Mb/s) which is more appropriate for today's large mass
storage devices. Much of this speed improvement is due to USB 3.0 being a
bi-directional bus, meaning it can transfer information to a device and to a
host computer simultaneously.
That concludes our preview look at the Biostar
TH67XE motherboard, stay tuned for the full review in the very near
future.
