There is no doubt in my mind, this Duron 700 at stock speed is an incredible performer! My goal in Quake III is to maintain 120FPS at all times, and the Quake III benchmark shows that the Duron 700 should satisfy that requirement. Additionally, installing programs, and using applications such as Adobe Photoshop 5.5 are a delight with this processor installed. The computer is responsive, and programs load up at a rapid clip. Without a doubt, the Duron @ 700 is a very good CPU purchase. But what about overclocking?

Overclocking:

People often ask me why I overclock. Well I mostly overclock to gain performance that I can easily get with a decent heat sink, and a good overclocking motherboard. With the GlobalWin FOP cooler, and the ABIT KT7 RAID, I have the basic components required for overclocking.

While many people have speculated that the different coloured Durons are coming from the Dresden fab in Germany, however as far as we know, Durons are still fabbed in Austin TX, using the aluminum .18 process. I have seen Green and Blue Durons, but unfortunately they are all aluminum. With the Athlons however, Blue and Green do make a difference, the Green Athlons should be from the Austin fab, and the Blue ones should be from the Dresden fab (.18 copper process.)
