We used the monitor
test program to give the 150MP's display a thorough going-over.
The LCD panel proved itself to be very vibrant in terms of colour replication,
and naturally had a very sharp image resolution at 1024x768. The LCD
panel used in the 150MP is not as of high a quality as the one used in the 170MP
in one regard, but better in two others - so it is a bit of a toss up. The LCD
panel is rated for viewing angles of 70/70/60/60. That means if you looked
at the display from anywhere up to a 60 degrees on either the left or right side
the display would be basically as clear as it it looking at it head on. Go past
that point and the display colours will begin to loose their brilliance (imagine
a notebook screen from the side - difficult to see).
Brightness sits high at 200cd/m2. This is slightly above
the norm, and higher than that of the 170MP model. To this day we still
have not been able to tell the difference between TFT panels sporting 200, 250
even 150cd/m2 luminance ratings. The contrast rating for the 150MP is excellent
at 300:1. Typically 300:1 is on the high end of the scale, and 150:1 is on the
low end. Thus the 150MP has a very, very good contrast rating. Finally the dot pitch of 0.297mm assures this display offers a very
good pixel size that produces a fairly clean image without any distracting
"griding" effects.
