VIA has recently entered the integrated mainboard chipset market with the release of the VIA PM 133, a Socket 370 based chipset. This chipset is essentially a combination of the VIA Apollo 133A chipset coupled with the S3 Savage 2000 2D core and S3's Savage4 3D core.

Winstone Performance
For this benchmark, Winstone 99 and Content Creation Winstone
2000 have been used to test the overall performance of the test bed setup.
Winstone 99 (Business Winstone 99) v1.2 is used to test the overall business
performance of the computer system by using applications such as MS Office 97,
Lotus Smartsuite 97, etc. Content Creation Winstone 2000 is a system level,
application based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when
running today's Windows based Internet content creation applications. The test
focuses on top selling Internet content creation applications.
Each test
was run 3 times with the result being the average value of the 3 test runs.
Higher numbers indicate better performance.
Content Creation Winstone 2000 performance of the tested board is slightly
higher than that of the DFI CA64 EC (Apollo 133A & 686B) and a bit
slower than a BX based board made by Soyo. The 7VMA also lags behind the DFI
CS65 SC since the latter was tested with a 100MHz memory bus. As this is an
early sample, we do believe that the final revision will correct the HCLK +
33MHz bug that we have experienced.
In this round of testing, we see the 7VMA running in last albeit by a very
small margin. These graphs have a tendency to exaggerate the results, don't
they? : )
