Some weeks ago, Soyo was kind enough to provide us with a few of their mainboards for reviewing. One of them being the 6BA+IV. The 6BA+IV is an enhanced Intel 440BX-based motherboard.

Winstone Performance
The Content Creation
Winstone 2000 checks system¡¯s performance on applications such as Adobe
Photoshop 5.0, Adobe Premiere 5.1, Macromedia Director 7.0, Macromedia
Dreamweaver 2.0, Netscape Navigator 4.6, Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 4.5. While
the Business Winstone 99 utilizes more common office applications like: Corel
WordPerfect Suite 8, Lotus SmartSuite, Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Office
97.
By
looking at the business performance charts (with consideration of the memory bus
speeds of each board chipset), it is clear that the 6BA+IV offers excellent
business performance compared to the rest. It isn't exactly the fastest board
out there but it does provide performance at a level in which we expect a
BX-based motherboard to perform.
Some boards may slightly outperform it
in some business scores but we must consider that this board is using a 66MHz
memory bus setting while most other boards (the DFI CW35E, the Soyo 6VCA, Soyo
7VCA) operate with a 100MHz memory bus.
Gaming
Performance
The Quake 3 performance
diagram shows that the 6BA+IV does offer good gaming performance... as we
expected from a BX board. However, the 6BA+IV does lag slightly behind DFI's two
BX based solutions.
