Please note that the overclocked AthlonXP 2100+ at 1.89
GHz will be running at 145 MHz FSB.
SYSmark2001 uses real world applications
concurrently as an accurate way to test the system by following patterns that
reflect the way real users work. SYSmark2001's workloads accurately represent
today's updated business usage model. The benchmark runs at a realistic
execution speed, with think times between application interactions, in order to
emulate a desktop user's interaction with the operating system and
applications. Higher numbers denote better
performance.

With
Sysmark 2001 the AthlonXP 2100+ extends a lead over the Willamette Pentium 4. One thing to keep
in mind is that Internet Content would have shown higher results had Windows Media
Encoder 7.0 used SSE which is compatible with the core of the AthlonXP.
Winstone 2001 |

Content Creation Winstone 2001 keeps multiple
applications open at once and switches among those applications. Content
Creation Winstone 2001's activities focus on what we call "hot spots," periods
of activity that make your PC really work--the times where you're likely to see
an hourglass or a progress bar.
Business Winstone is a system-level,
application-based benchmark that measures a PC's overall performance when
running today's Windows-based 32-bit applications on Windows 98 ME, Windows NT
4.0 (SP6 or later), Windows 2000, Windows Me, or Windows XP which runs real
applications through a series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC
takes to complete those activities to produce its performance scores.
The
AthlonXP simply walks over the Pentium 4 in both Business Winstone and Content
Creation. Even
the slower AthlonXP 2000+ trounces the Pentium 4 (Willamette) 2 GHz. Realistically though, you
really don't need an AthlonXP 2100+ to work with office applications, but in 6 or 12 month's time it
may be quite necessary.
SPECviewperf™ is a portable OpenGL performance
benchmark program written in C. It was developed by IBM. Later updates and
significant contributions were made by SGI, Digital and other SPECopcSM project group members. SPECviewperf provides a vast
amount of flexibility in benchmarking OpenGL performance. Currently, the program
runs on most implementations of UNIX, Windows NT, Windows 95/98 and
Linux.
I'm not
sure what to make of the results in DRV_07 and DX_06. All the benchmarks look in line until the
AthlonXP 2100+ overclocked and the results jump fast. Perhaps SPECviewperf doesn't handle the high
CPU speed very well.... in any case we reran these two benchmarks three
times just to confirm the overclocked numbers. Each time we got similar
scores.

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical
power of a complete system and individual components. The numbers taken though
are again, purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance. Higher
numbers represent better performance.

The AthlonXP 2100+ simply destroys all the
reference CPU's Sandra has in its database. As we can see, the XP2100+ puts up
some very respectable numbers!
