The
particular motherboard we received for testing is an engineering
sample and there were some anomalies which held us back from running the system above
200 MHz FSB; consequently we were not able to overclock. This did not affect the stock results
however, and we're working with Aopen on this and should have overclocking results in the near
future for you to check out.
The BIOS:
AOpen uses an Award BIOS for
their AX4SPE motherboard and it has all the usual tweaks we have come to expect
from a performance motherboard.
As you can see we
have the usual memory tweaks from CAS Latency to RAS to CAS delay and even RAS
Precharge. We can also change the AGP Aperture Size in the Advanced Chipset
options.
The FSB goes to 300 MHz FSB in 1 MHz increments. CPU
voltage only goes to a maximum of 1.6V so hardcore overclockers will have to modify
the motherboard or CPU to hit those higher voltages. AGP can be raised
to 1.8V and memory to 2.8V. Up next are the benchmarks!
