Quake III Arena is a First Person Shooter (FPS)
that revolutionized gaming as we know it. Using multiple light sources and
having graphics textures that can fill videocards, even after 3 years it's still
able to bring a cutting edge system to its knees.

Some people out there complain about Quake
III because it's a relatively old program, but despite it's age it's still a
good measurement of system performance. We get about a 20%
performance boost in both demo001 and nv15demo when running in the fastest
settings. Everyone knows that at the fastest settings we're all system limited
so let's turn up the resolution a bit.

With everything set to maximum and a resolution
of 1024x768, in demo001 we get about just over a 15% boost thanks
to system overclocking.

At 1600x1200 the videocard becomes the bottleneck
of the system, that's why the demo001 framerates are almost identical, I guess
it's time to overclock the videocard! ;-) In the more CPU intensive nv15demo the
difference is still over 20%, something one should keep in mind if they're
playing games which are mainly CPU limited.
