CodeCretures requires a fully compatible DirectX 8
videocard with preferably 128 MB of RAM to store textures. Codecreatures
utilizes vertex as well as pixel shaders to run their tests.
Our
second DirectX9 benchmark, codecreatures uses a custom engine to render a variety of complex nature scenes using DirectX 9
effects. It's an excellent way to completely stress out your videocard of
choice.
The GV-N595U delivers a pretty
consistent advantage over the Radeon 9800 Pro at all resolutions, but does not
manage much of an edge over its Nvidia sibling, the FX5900 card in our test.
AquaMark3 is a powerful tool to determine reliable
information about the gaming performance of a computer system. Because the
benchmark extensively utilizes DirectX9, DirectX8 and DirectX7 functionality, it
represents the requirements of typical gaming applications in 2003 and
2004.
Continuing with the
DirectX9 benchmarks, Aquamark3 can stress any video card out there right now
with its complex effects. In the default benchmark, the Gigabyte FX5950 Ultra came
out ahead of the Radeon 9800 Pro by a small margin. Overclocking gave
considerable performance improvement in this benchmark, which was a positive
thing.
