Samsung SyncMaster 192MP LCD Monitor Review
I'd
have to say that while LCD Televisions are convenient, thin, and power-efficient, they still don't match up to the
picture quality of a standard CRT television. This pictorial difference comes part
and parcel with interpolation of a 640x480 television resolution on a
1280x1024 native resolution screen. And includes other factors derived from the natural
colour limitations of the TFT LCD screen; like colour saturation, a limit of 16.7 million shades, and yes even
the all important pixel response time - 25ms in this instance.
Samsung have proven that they are
quite capable of dominating the LCD monitor market, due to strengths in
their own LCD-panel manufacturing facilities, and excellent product design and engineering. Though,
as prices for LCD monitors are still quite high, typically above
the $500/panel price point, competition remains fierce.
Faced
with cheaper and less expensive competition from companies who
integrate LCD screens into custom shells, or simply slap a logo
on a OEM display, Samsung have taken important steps to differentiate their products from
cookie-cutter 17" and 19" LCD screens. They have accomplished this by mainly embracing the multimedia
LCD monitor - and doing it right.

If we take the Samsung 192MP
as example, looking around to the back of the screen you'll find
a dozen or so audio and video inputs, component-input for High Definition DVD playback, and even a
built-in Cable TV-tuner.
These multimedia features stand in addition to the standard
DVI and Analog video inputs which connect to your PC, making the Syncmaster 192MP
quite a value.
Samsung's Syncmaster 192MP is
definitely a great LCD monitor for office oriented computer work, some DVD or TV
watching here and there, and whatever else interests you.
You won't need to
purchase an extra TV-tuner videocard, or module for the display, as it comes built in. The 19" Syncmaster 192MP
may not be much of an 'First Person Shooter' Gammers delight, but it is perfectly sized
for desktop work, spreadsheets, television or what have you.
The Samsung Syncmaster 192MP
19" screen features viewing angles of 170/170, a brightness rating of 250 CD/m2,
and contrast ratio of 750:1 - among the highest we have ever seen! With perks
like picture-in-picture, and a 1280x1024 pixel resolution, the screen boasts a
0.294mm pixel pitch, and pixel response time of 25ms.
A folding stand compliments
the 100mm VESA mounting points which you can use to hang the Samsung 192MP on
the wall. Analog and digital DVI inputs are supported, along with a host of
other multimedia ports. The wall bracket is not included, and nor is a DVI video
cable for that matter. Under power, the screen draws 62 Watts, and in standby
only about 2 Watts.
