CD Speed can
also read DVD-ROM discs showing you maximum transfer speeds, access times and CPU utilization. The DVD data
disc has about 3.78GB of data on it and is a retail DVD-ROM disc, not
burned on a DVD-/+R disc.

The MSI
X48 is a tad faster than the LG GSA-4082B when it comes to reading DVD-ROMs (again
16X vs the 12X for the LG drive). Performance is still very good, and you will have
no problems watching movies or installing data from a DVD.
Nero's CD
Speed burn tests are done twice, once with a DVD-RAM rated to 1x-3x burn speed,
and a DVD+RW rated to 2.4-4x. Each disc was test with files of about 4.7GB in
size. This test is done by simply placing blank recording media into the burner
and running CD Speed the software will detect if it is DVD-RAM, DVD-/+R or DVD-/+RW media
and run the appropriate tests.

When it
comes to burning DVD media, it's nice to see that the LG
GSA-4082B is up to snuff. Unfortunately we were not able to find any 8x DVD-/+R or
4x DVD-RW media in our area to test with. Pickings are still a bit
slim.
