The AOpen DRW8800 comes bundled with a
host of software which we have already mentioned, including Nero Burning ROM 5.
Nero is probably the most powerful recordable media software suites on the market, and while it
is easy to use, it does not insult your intellegence.
Nero's InfoTool shows us that the AOpen
DRW8800 drive can read pretty much all types of recordable DVD media except
DVD-RAM discs. As for writing methods, everything is supported except DVD-RAM and
Mount Rainier.

The CD Winbench99 benchmark runs a series of
scripted programs from a special CD in the drive and measures the time and data
transfer capabilities as a result. Higher numbers mean better performance.
Things start off for the
AOpen DRW8800 pretty well - it's not the fastest drive we've tested but it's not
slow at all.

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of
a complete system and individual components. The numbers taken though are again,
purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance.
