Benchmarks: Business Winstone 2004, SiSoft Sandra, PCMark04

Winstone 2004 Source: Zdnet

Business Winstone 2004 runs real applications through a series of scripted activities and uses the time a PC takes to complete these activities to produce its performance scores.

Business Winstone 2004
Memory: Points Ranking
2x 512MB Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL PRO (200/400) 31.5
2x 512MB Centon GEMiNi PC3200 (200/400) 32.3
2x 512MB OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX (200/400) 31.8
2x 512MB OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX (268/536) 32.6

Considering office applications are all user-limited, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the OCZ PC4000 Gold Dual Channel VX modules do not give much of a performance boost in the Business Winstone 2004 benchmark even when overclocked.

SiSoft Sandra 2004 Source:Sandra

Sandra is designed to test the theoretical power of a complete system as well as the individual components. The results are also purely theoretical and may not represent real world performance.

Sisoft Sandra 2004 Benchmark Results
Memory Integer SSE2: Float SSE2:
2x 512MB Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL PRO (200/400) 6057 6026
2x 512MB Centon GEMiNi PC3200 (200/400) 6058 6026
2x 512MB OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX (200/400) 6081 6045
2x 512MB OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX (268/536) 7121 7034

At stock speeds, the OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX memory performs on par with other DDR RAM kits we've tested recently. Despite keeping the processor at approximately the same speed, memory bandwidth increased by 1GB/s when the RAM was overclocked!

PCMark04 Source: FutureMark

The latest version of the popular PCMark series, PCMark04 is an application-based benchmark and a premium tool for measuring overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of including whole applications or using specifically created code. This allows PCMark04 to maintain a smaller installation size while still giving accurate results.

PCMark04
Overall: Points Ranking
2x 512MB Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL PRO (200/400) 4969
2x 512MB Centon GEMiNi PC3200 (200/400) 4970
2x 512MB OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX (200/400) 4958
2x 512MB OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX (268/536) 5091
Memory: Points Ranking
2x 512MB Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL PRO (200/400) 5655
2x 512MB Centon GEMiNi PC3200 (200/400) 5626
2x 512MB OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX (200/400) 5641
2x 512MB OCZ PC4000 Gold DC VX (268/536) 6444

PCMark04 tests many system functions, so that's why the overall score is only slightly higher when the memory is overclocked. In the memory portion of the benchmark though, we see a significant increase, confirming what the SiSoft Sandra benchmark stated earlier.
